Miss Gays Reading Challenge (The School For Good And Evil, A Crystal Of Time)

Miss Gays Reading Challenge

even though I am still in the middle of reading a book series from Sarah J. Maas, I have taken a break to read the nest book in the series the school for good and evil by Soman Chainani. I am currently halfway through the novel but I have so far found no connection between the title and the novel. what I like about the novel so far is the relationships between the character because they no everything they can to help or save on another even in the toughest of times and when reading it from there different prospectives I can see the strong bonds between the characters. I think what the author is trying to teach us is that nothing is going to be that easy and if we want something we have to strive for it yourself but it's ok to ask for so assistance. My favourite characters in this novel would be the main characters Sophie and Agatha because throughout the series they grow to be close friends and even when they are drawn apart they find each other again. they have been through a lot together and they would always support each other. My least favourite characters are the twin brothers who have manipulated the other kingdoms royalty and have made people turn against the storian (a magical pen that rights fairytales).

Weeks later

I have now finished the book and I am lost for words. after reading the end I believe there will be another book being written. as for the title, I finally understand how it relates to the novel. It relates because the crystal of time is actually a crystal ball which when underwater can be a portal to inside the crystal ball where you can access the past and future of those inside the crystal. making it a crystal of time. I can't wait for the next book to come out but until then I will be carrying on with the throne of glass series.

Miss Gays Reading Challenge (The Throne Of Glass)

Miss Gays Reading Challenge

After finishing the book series by Amy Ewing I ventured out to find a new novel to read during SSR (sustained silent reading). So now I am currently reading the first book of a series, The Throne Of Glass by Sarah J. Maas. Even though I have only read 15 chapters, I can guess that the title is fitting for this book because after an assassin was asked to compete to be the kings champion, she travelled to a castle made of glass where she met the king who sat upon a throne made of glass. What I like about this novel so far is that even though its a story of its own, I can still relate parts of it to the previous book series I read. What I also like about it is the strong female lead character, for she had to disguise her identity as a jewel thief when shes really the best-trained assassin. So far my favourite character is Celaena Sardothien as she is the person the story is based on, though she has done incriminating things she is still a strong-minded woman who is intelligent and skilled. From what Celaena describes in the novel her least favourite person in the world in the king and from how she described him I soon agreed with her. what I have learned so far from this novel is that you should never be too quick to judge someone because there is more to them then it seems. Something from this novel that relates to my own life is that a character wanted Celanea to be someone she could talk to even though Celeana wouldn't share things with her because of her hidden identity, and its the same for me. My friends want someone to talk to but I would just be there supporting them. I have heard from multiple people that this is a great book series and I can't wait to read more.

Miss Gays Reading Challenge (The Black Key)

Miss Gays Reading Challenge

The book I have been reading during SSR (sustained silent reading) is the third book in a series, The black key by Amy Ewing. I think the title is fitting for this book because the black key is a society of people rebelling against the royalty, The black key is also their secret symbol of recognition. So far the book has started where it left off in the previous book the white rose. what I like about it is that the main character Violet is helping other girls like her become aware of what they are capable of. At the moment I have no least favourite characters that are newly introduced but my least favourite characters that are mentioned are the royals because of how they treat people as if they are there property.

Ajax the kea dog. (Sound)

In media studies today we learned about different aspects of a film. together a classmate and I studied a short film Ajax the kea dog. click on this link to watch the short film

Sound

The short film Ajax the Kea Dog, I believe the director uses a range of sound to grasp the attention of the audience. I think he uses a calm and classical underlying soundtrack over the duration of the film
to give the overall film a friendly and welcoming effect. I think this adds to the wilderness aspect as a similar soundtrack is played during shows like bear grills. At the beginning of the film, we have a
voiceover about Ajax and his story. I think that he did this to be relatable to his audience as dogs are
well loved in our community. I also think this is why he made the story about Ajax instead of about finding keas. Throughout the short film, we get different sound effects including bird calls and the zip of the tent to add context to the scenes.  There is also a music change when he changes locations adding to the scene of mystery in the unknown location.
